About The Role
We are seeking a proactive and motivated Field Services Engineer to join our Site Services team. Based at our Head Office in Four Ashes, Wolverhampton, you will also spend time working away from home on projects across the UK, including overnight stays when required.
The purpose of this role is to support the coordination and delivery of on-site engineering activity. You will sometimes act as the on-site technical and operational lead, taking responsibility for project delivery and client liaison. Working closely with the Site Services Manager and the wider team, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards, while also contributing to the profitability and success of the business.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of engineering projects, managing your own time effectively to meet deadlines.
* Organise and liaise with project coordination teams to ensure smooth project execution.
* Act as on-site lead when required, ensuring works are delivered on time, to specification, and within budget.
* Specify out works and support the preparation of project requirements when needed.
* Uphold excellent Health & Safety standards, including risk assessments, method statements, safe lifting techniques, and access considerations.
* Operate and maintain site plant and equipment, including excavation and HDPE pipe welding.
* Carry out servicing and maintenance of pneumatic pumps (e.g. AP3, SP4 or similar) for quarry and landfill operations, including safely removing and replacing them on site.
* Ensure tools, plant, and vehicles are maintained and safe to use.
* Work in outdoor environments and in all weather conditions, following safety procedures at all times.
* Liaise with clients and colleagues to ensure effective communication and professional delivery.
* Contribute to continuous improvement by working across disciplines within Site Services to deliver strong business results.
About You
We are looking for someone with at least 12 months’ experience in engineering, civils, or infrastructure, ideally within the environmental or waste sector. Knowledge of pneumatic pump systems (AP3, SP4 or similar) is highly desirable, but full training will be provided.
* A practical understanding of Health & Safety, including manual handling, safe working at height, and access in quarry or landfill environments.
* Good organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to plan work effectively and adapt on site.
* The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Flexibility to travel to sites nationwide and stay away from home during projects.
Previous experience of landfill, waste management, or infrastructure projects is desirable, as is commercial awareness and cost control understanding.
