Team Leader Position Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on Team Leader to supervise and support a team of 7 production team members. The moulding area you are responsible for is split into 2, 3 team members on an assembly finishing area, 4 team members in the moulding area which operate 2 different moulding ovens. You’ll play an active role in the day-to-day running of the production area, helping to manufacture a diverse range of premium products for signage and illumination applications, including roads, streets, car parks, schools, and pedestrian crossings.
This role involves working alongside your team on the shop floor, ensuring jobs are completed safely, on time, and to a high standard. You'll help keep things running smoothly by organising workloads, solving problems as they arise, and making sure company processes are followed.
Key Responsibilities of a Team Leader:
* Work alongside the team on the production floor, providing hands-on support to ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
* Maintain a safe, clean working environment ensuring that safety procedures are followed by you and team members. Identifying any hazards and agreeing actions to minimise risks to the team.
* Develop close cooperation between fellow Team Leaders to support material flow throughout the shop floor.
* Manage the production plan, with support from the Production Manager, to ensure that your area achieves their daily output, to the required quality and safety standards.
* Manage senior operatives and staffing on lines to efficiently meet demand, including overtime.
* Identify training needs and cross train a balanced team and maintain records.
* Provide direct line support and be prepared to spend the majority of the working day working with your team on the line.
* Actively practice, encourage and coach team members in continuous improvement techniques within your area, ensuring swift root cause analysis, containment, and sustained corrective actions.
* Daily briefings, PPE, maintenance checks and toolbox talks.
* Communications with other areas of the business including Sales and Customer Services and Business Systems.
Skills and Qualifications required of a Team Leader:
* A proven track record in team leadership
* Comfortable with hands-on, physically active work in a production environment, and will be actively involved in producing alongside the team.
* Ability to demonstrate experience of production plan responsibility
* Strong problem solving and process skills
* Organised and can prioritise tasks against tight time constraints.
* Computer literate
