We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our busy learning and teaching professional support service in the School of Biomedical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences.

This essential role is based at our Newcastle City campus and provides administrative support to ensure the smooth and effective running of the School’s programmes.
As a member of our Professional Services, you will be working in highly motivated and well organised team. You should be interested in working in a busy environment with varied activities. You should be proactive and be able to use your initiative and judgement to resolve problems independently. You should be numerate, have excellent IT and interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to communicate effectively.

Key Accountabilities
1. To provide administrative support to the education function of the School across the full student lifecycle (from registration, through progression to completion)
2. Responsible for inputting amendments to annual documentation such as modules and regulations
3. Responsible for ensuring up to date information is uploaded to the appropriate University systems. In addition, to be responsible for inputting updates of teaching materials on University systems as they arise, and the timely distribution of materials to staff and students
4. Responsible for checking and updating student data using University systems, including ensuring students are appropriately registered for modules as required
5. Where appropriate, supporting the allocation of personal tutors to students, and for monitoring meetings between tutors and tutees
6. Support the Education Team Leader with student attendance monitoring administration as requested
7. Responsible for receipt and collation of assessment materials from academic colleagues, for tracking assessed work out for marking and chasing to ensure it is processed within expected timescales. In addition, transcribing or uploading marks to relevant University systems
8. To support the organization of practical assessments and assist in setting up examination venues
9. To support the administration of processes relating to adjustments required for students with wellbeing issues or personal extenuating circumstances
10. To provide support for the arrangement of student placements and maintaining accurate records
11. To support the collation of timetable requirements in agreed timescales and, liaising with academic staff regarding requirements, advising on constraints and practicalities of requests
12. To provide support for the allocation of research projects to students
13. Where appropriate to act as secretary to designated meetings, including agenda preparation and circulation, minute taking and monitoring progress of actions
14. Responsible for setting up on University systems evaluations for students to complete
15. To provide support for the School’s Admissions where required; this can be significant for some programmes
16. Any other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required. This includes some flexibility in working hours and may include occasional weekend working (in the region of two Saturdays per year)

17. Working knowledge of relevant systems equipment, processes and procedures including standard software packages
18. Appreciation of the standards for the conduct and output of the role
19. Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing
20. Numeracy skills
21. Good I.T. skills, i.e. good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages
22. Familiarity with work priorities and those of colleagues
23. Basic understanding of relevant policies and procedures, as they affect the role

Qualifications
29. Good passes in English Language and Mathematics GCSE (or equivalent) or vocational qualifications, plus work experience in a relevant role; or substantial relevant work experience in the unit or a comparable setting
