Job Title: IM&T Solution Architect

What You'll Be Doing
As a Solution Architect, you will design, own, and communicate a pragmatic, risk-aware transition roadmap that moves the Digital Intelligence estate from its current state to the target architecture. You will embed cloud-infrastructure expertise—spanning public, private, and hybrid environments—to ensure migration steps are technically sound, cost-effective, and aligned with BAE Systems standards. In addition, you will assure and lead the development of solution architectures that meet both functional and non-functional requirements, manage smooth transition into operation, and mitigate technical risks in collaboration with quality and test management. You will consult with stakeholders to evolve early solutions, uphold architecture standards, and work closely with the Chief Enterprise Architect and Head of Technology Strategy to shape initiatives that deliver a secure, resilient, and future-ready digital estate.
Essential
Your skills and experiences
Proven experience in solution architecture and transition planning within large, regulated environments.
Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture, containerisation, infrastructure-as-code, and networking/security concepts.
Ability to translate technical migration steps into concise, senior-level roadmaps and business cases.
Expertise in architecture modelling and visual communication using tools such as Bizzdesign.
Solid grasp of non-functional requirements (NFRs), technical risk management, and assurance practices.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, capable of influencing senior leaders.
Proficiency with AI Assisted tooling
Minimum SC clearance; DV may be required.
Desirable
Experience with hybrid hosting models, multi-cloud strategies, and emerging technologies.
Knowledge of security, privacy, and compliance frameworks.
Professional certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS/Azure Architect/GCP) or equivalent experience.
