Join the Environment Agency as a Technical Advisor on our Monitoring and Data Systems Team to support environmental monitoring systems and data across Water Quality, Fish, Biology, Ecology, and Water Quantity.
Overview
The Monitoring Data & Systems (MDS) Team manages key Environmental Monitoring systems and datasets. You will work in a multi-disciplinary, dispersed team to analyse, manage and improve the data that underpins our environmental work.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up and manage users for environmental monitoring systems.
* Support users and resolve issues, especially as we transition to the new My Environment application.
* Update, improve and maintain datasets.
* Respond to internal and external data requests.
* Assist with system improvement and upgrade projects.
* Participate in incident response duties and required training.
Qualifications
* Experience working with large, complex datasets.
* Willingness to develop and learn new technical skills across monitoring data and systems.
* Motivated, organised, friendly, with strong attention to detail and ability to work in a dispersed team.
* Proactive problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to convey technical information to non‑technical audiences.
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and deliver excellent customer service.
* Desirable: Experience managing environmental monitoring data systems; using PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online and R; knowledge of water quality monitoring.
Location & Working Arrangement
Work location is flexible with a base at one of our England offices. Hybrid home/office work is offered; some travel is expected for meetings.
