Senior Mechanical Engineer
Rotork Manchester, England, United Kingdom
Are you a hands-on problem solver with a passion for engineering excellence? Join our dynamic team in Manchester as a Mechanical Engineer, where you'll play a pivotal role in supporting and evolving a global product portfolio. This is your opportunity to contribute to innovative, high-performance solutions that make a real difference to customers worldwide.
Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, you’ll be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplined team, working closely with internal and external sales and operational departments. Your work will directly impact the performance, reliability, and safety of our high-pressure hydraulic systems. Whilst most of the work focuses on mechanical systems, there is also considerable scope for involvement in the development of solenoid technology, therefore solenoid experience will be highly advantageous.
This role is key to the continuation and support of the product portfolio supplied to customers across the globe, delivering effective and fit-for-purpose solutions while ensuring best practices are consistently applied. In this role you will identify and address gaps in processes and skill sets within the team, help raise the overall capability and efficiency of the department and proactively taking on responsibilities within your remit that drive improvement.
We’re seeking a proactive and analytical engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving complex challenges. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills to liaise across departments.
Experience Requirements
* Proven experience in a similar mechanical, electronics or mechatronics background in engineering will be considered.
* Strong understanding of high-pressure equipment and associated safety considerations.
* Exposure to R&D and New Product Development (NPD) processes.
* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
* A good understanding of system-level engineering and integration.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments.
* Experience participating in or conducting technical interviews is a plus.
The Successful Candidate
* Is driven to deliver on commitments and exceed expectations.
* Balances short-term priorities with long-term strategic goals.
* Remains calm and adaptable when faced with unexpected challenges.
* Promotes a positive, collaborative working environment.
* Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset.
* A positive, can-do attitude aligned with our DNA culture—driven, collaborative, and customer-focused.
Why Join Us?
* Be part of a forward-thinking engineering team with a strong reputation in the industry.
* Work on technically challenging and rewarding projects.
* Access to ongoing professional development and training.
* Competitive salary and benefits package.
* A supportive and inclusive workplace culture that values innovation and integrity.
