Job Summary
This Junior Clinical Fellow (JCF) post has been designed to provide liver clinical training after the Foundation years, aiming to increase clinical exposure to medicine. It is suitable for trainees in General Internal Medicine who are considering a career in Gastroenterology or Hepatology.
Responsibilities
* Work in the Liver Unit delivering a high‑quality service.
* Provide ward‑based care, rotating between blocks of general hepatology, pre‑transplant assessment and post‑transplant management.
* Participate in outpatient clinics and perform audits.
* Engage in learning opportunities to develop to a more senior level by the end of the rotation.
* Support research and quality improvement projects and present at meetings where desired.
* Support the rota shared with nine other Junior Clinical Fellows, including twilight and night shifts supervised by a specialist registrar or consultant.
* Assist in occasional emergencies at the request of the appropriate consultant.
* Maintain medical clearance and, where required, attend examinations before appointment.
Person Specification
Essential
* Full registration with the GMC and understanding of the importance of good medical practice.
* Registerable medical qualification.
* Completed at least house jobs/Foundation year training with appropriate periods spent in acute medicine.
Desirable
* MRCP or equivalent.
* Active involvement in CPD.
* Previous experience of General Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and liver medicine.
Contract Details
* Grade: Doctor – other.
* Salary: £52,656 to £68,290 per annum, plus London weighting.
* Location: Kings College Hospital, Denmark Hill, London, SE5 9RS, United Kingdom.
* Fixed term, 12 months, full‑time.
