Key Responsibilities
* Own and manage the end‑to‑end systems engineering process for assigned projects.
* Lead requirements capture, analysis, allocation and management across subsystems.
* Drive the system through formal design gates – SRR, PDR, CDR – and validation activities – FAT, SAT.
* Maintain traceability of requirements throughout the lifecycle and ensure compliance with project and customer standards.
* Define system‑level architectures and interface definitions for satellite communications networks, ground systems and other mission‑critical infrastructures.
* Perform system modelling, trade studies and design analyses to inform architecture choices.
* Support integration, verification, validation and transition‑to‑operations activities.
* Act as a technical authority, mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical review boards.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams – network engineers, software developers, mission operators – to ensure cohesive technical delivery.
* Engage with commercial and defence customers to capture needs, present solutions and secure buy‑in at formal reviews.
* Contribute to bids and proposals by defining engineering approaches, resource estimates and technical content.
* Support role‑based access control (RBAC), secure file handling and HTTPS‑based communication within the system architecture.
* Ensure compliance with aerospace security frameworks and CGI enterprise security policies.
Required Qualifications
* Essential:
o Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
o Minimum 5 years of experience in the space, SATCOM or defence sector.
o Demonstrated expertise across the full systems‑engineering lifecycle – architecture, design, verification, validation and integration.
o Strong knowledge of satellite communications systems (space and ground segments), architectures and operations.
o Excellent communication skills – able to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
o Requirements management experience using DOORS, Jama or equivalent.
o Experience with design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and verification/validation (FAT, SAT, integration testing).
* Desirable:
o Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace or Defence‑related discipline.
o Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working toward it.
o Familiarity with model‑based systems engineering tools (SysML, Cameo, Capella).
o Experience on both commercial satellite programmes and MoD/defence projects.
o Knowledge of mission assurance, safety and reliability engineering in aerospace.
