Senior Social Worker / AMHP – Emergency Duty Team (St Helens)
The St Helens Emergency Duty Team, commissioned by Halton LA, delivers an out‑of‑hours emergency response service for vulnerable children and adults, covering mental health assessments, safeguarding and homelessness support. The role is based at the Municipal Building in Widnes, with hybrid working and regular visits to the St Helens and Halton areas.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality social work and AMHP services to children, young people and adults in need of urgent care.
* Assess and record risk of immediate harm, conduct mental health assessments, and offer support for homelessness crises.
* Operate with professional autonomy, making decisions in line with safeguarding legislation and organisational policies.
* Work cohesively with a skilled team, including experienced colleagues and the Team Manager, to deliver effective interventions.
Qualifications
* Knowledge, skills and experience in delivering services to vulnerable children and adults.
* Approved Mental Health Professional able to undertake Mental Health Act assessments.
* Awareness of legislative and procedural safeguarding issues.
* Ability to work independently and make decisions with a high level of professional autonomy.
