Reports to Director of Scientific Services
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Working in an account management team, alongside Medical Writers and a creative team, to manage our clients’ requirements and deliver their projects
2. Taking full ownership of the communications programme for each client, ranging from strategic input to day-to-day management of tactics (based on the specific needs for each account)
3. Ensuring optimal financial management of each account and demonstrating a clear understanding of all financial processes within the business
4. Monitoring forecast and plans in conjunction with Senior Account Managers, Account Managers and Account Executives to ensure business objectives are met, on time and within budget
5. Ensuring the finance team is kept up to date with all relevant information and managing financial issues in a timely manner
6. Having a thorough understanding of the client’s business objectives, product strategy and relevant therapeutic area. Clearly communicating of this to all internal team members, as relevant
7. In-depth understanding of the relevant NHS organisations, policies and processes that impact upon the business
8. Taking responsibility for building and maintaining professional relationships with opinion leaders (industry and NHS)
9. Managing and influencing senior-level client contacts and maintain positive working relationships, immediately identifying any issues and leading remedial action, as required
10. Promoting OPEN Health Communications services to all clients, identifying new business opportunities
11. Highlighting key issues to the practice management regarding key accounts and the account team, as appropriate
12. Ensuring understanding and implementation of all OPEN Health Communications procedures and quality standards across all account team members
13. Ensuring all account team members take ownership for their business and appropriate levels of responsibility
14. Supporting the practice management as a senior member of the team
15. Ensuring the practice management kept up to date on client activities
16. Contributing to discussions regarding overall company strategy
17. Coordinating effectively and efficiently with appropriate members of the team
18. Ensuring effective cross-company working on integrated accounts, where appropriate
19. Supporting the development and training of Account Executives, Senior Account Executives, Account Managers and Senior Account Managers
20. Taking line management responsibility of Account Executives, Senior Account Executives, Account Managers and Senior Account Managers where appropriate
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
21. Thorough understanding of the client’s therapeutic area and ability to provide strategic input
22. Strong understanding of science and medicine, the healthcare environment and the medical education/communications industry
23. Manager, trainer, delegator
24. Strong leadership skills
25. Approachability
26. Significant experience in a healthcare agency or pharmaceutical company role
27. Excellent project management and analytical skills
28. Financial acumen
29. Ability to multitask and prioritise; excellent time management skills
30. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

32. Able to work independently and as part of a team
33. Competent in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
