We are now looking to appoint an Assistant Management Accountant aimed at driving improvement in the financial management team

Main duties of the job

Within financial management and financial planning services the purpose of the role is to provide assistance to specific clinical or non-clinical and support service areas in producing timely and accurate financial information/data for use in preparation of monthly finance reports.
The role is with a focus on a specific non-clinical area with the following main duties:

• Liaise with the financial accounts team to clear any mismatches or queries.
• Maintain the monitoring process to minimise variances in reporting.
• Investigate any variances and summarise in monthly business unit reporting pack.
• Preparing journals, recharges and adjustments to enable accuracy in financial statements.
• Assisting the financial management team with Budget Holder meetings and prepare relevant information and analysis required of them.
• Resolving queries from Budget Holders and Managers in a timely manner with minimum supervision.
• Supporting regular team tasks within the month end reporting period.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Candidate:
• Education to a degree or equivalent
• Demonstrating willingness to work toward CCAB qualification or equivalent
• At least 1 years’ experience within a finance function
• Ability to clearly communicate finance and non-finance issues
• Previous Corporate Services experience within the NHS is advantageous
• Demonstrate good team work and communication skills

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. Accounting Technician (AAT) Intermediate Level (NVQ 4 Level) or equivalent level of qualification, equivalent previous proven experience.
2. Demonstrate willingness for further study

Desirable criteria

3. Working towards a CCAB or CIMA Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

4. Experience in a relevant financial Post
5. Experience in management accounts

Knowledge

Essential criteria

6. Up to date knowledge of NHS Developments
7. Ability to perform analysis of date from multiple sources and systems.

Skills

Essential criteria

8. Understand and able to apply fundamental accounting concepts and provide assistance in Financial Reporting
9. Good level of IT Skills
10. Able to work with finance colleagues, to resolve queries and assist in budget control
11. Able to producing financial statements and reports and ensure the Trust strict financial timetables are adhered to
12. Able to plan and organise workload to ensure weekly, monthly and annual plans are met
