Job Overview

GPs – are you looking for a new salaried position? To work in a beautiful location, with excellent commuter links, and a great relocation package to bring you here? We have GP vacancies at our Health Board Practice, West End Medical Centre, in Conwy County. Westend Medical Centre is situated in Colwyn Bay, with a patient list size of 18,400. The practice focuses on delivering a social model of care with a multi‑disciplinary team including GPs, nurses, physiotherapists and pharmacists. It is also moving towards recruitment of Advanced Practice Paramedics and Physicians Associates.

Main Duties of the Job

* Be expected to undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with GP work within primary care.
* In a coordinated practice timetable, take on a range of duties such as telephone, video and email consultations and queries, home visits to patients, providing advice to colleagues, and dealing with paperwork, referrals, and responsibilities in a timely manner.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, including underscored and undiagnosed problems, considering the best practice and evidence‑based guidelines.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors, early signs of illness and promote public health interventions.
* Admit patients to acute services as appropriate, and ensure appropriate referrals.
* Collect data for audit purposes.

Qualifications


Essential Criteria

* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise and entry on the GP Register
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice / Certificate Confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR), or equivalent
* Included on a Medical Performers List or eligible
* Evidence of continuous professional development


Desirable Criteria

* MRCGP
* Academic excellence (prizes, merits, distinctions, etc.)


Experience


Essential Criteria

* Experience in general practice and working in multi‑disciplinary team
* Vocational GP training


Desirable Criteria

* Eligibility for minor surgery, obstetrics, family planning accreditation

* Proven ability to handle a busy and varied primary care caseload and respond flexibly to workload fluctuations
* Ability to take independent clinical decisions when necessary and to seek advice from senior doctors as appropriate
* Commitment to team approach and multi‑disciplinary working
* Effective counselling and communication skills
* Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance
* Commitment to participating in and understanding the management process
* Good IT proficiency
* Ability to develop and sustain relationships with a wide range of individuals and within groups
* Ability to work across organisations to deliver a common objective
* Ability to draft letters, reports and protocols in a timely manner
