Applications are invited for the position of B3 0.4 wte Contact Lens & LVA technical assistant & coordinator. This post is a mix of technical and administrative duties; training can be provided.
You will be joining our diverse team which includes a Contact Lens & anterior segment specialist (service lead), optometrist, LVA specialist, ECLO and the ophthalmology team.
Main duties of the job
* Clinic coordination duties – word processing, answering telephone enquiries, coordinating outpatient waiting lists, making and altering appointments.
* Organise waiting lists, clinics, appointments and timetables to ensure Trust targets are met.
* Maintain and order stocks and supplies using the ELFS system.
* Technical support for the CL/LVA service such as topographical scanning, anterior segment imaging, OCTs, and other diagnostic tests.
* Teach insertion and removal of contact lenses, instruct patients on adapting to, wearing and caring for contact lenses.
* Support LVA Specialist in teaching and guiding patients with the use of LVAs.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* Good standard of general education/tr including numeracy and literacy skills to enable work at equivalent of NVQ/SVQ level III.
* Proficient in the use of computer systems.
Desirable Qualifications
* Previous clinic coordination experience e.g. managing waiting lists, use of Careflow & iPortal.
* Optometric/ophthalmic qualifications.
Essential Knowledge, skills, training & experience
* Ability to prioritise workload in response to service need.
* Ability to work alone and as part of the wider team.
* Good written and communication skills.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with situations sensitively.
Desirable
* Previous optical experience e.g. Optical assistant/technician.

* Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
* Enthusiastic and motivated.
* Professional attitude.
