New Directions Education is recruiting dedicated, compassionate, and proactive Behaviour Support Workers to work across local SEN settings.
This is a highly rewarding role for individuals who want to make a real difference by supporting learners to thrive both in the classroom and within outdoor or alternative learning environments. You’ll play a vital role in helping pupils manage behaviour, build confidence, and develop positive relationships.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
1. Have experience or knowledge of trauma‑informed practice and therapeutic behaviour support
2. Are Team‑Teach trained or experienced in other behaviour intervention approaches
3. Are a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), or
4. Are an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step in your career
5. Are calm, resilient, and confident in managing challenging behaviour
6. Care deeply about inclusion, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for young people
About the role:
Behaviour Support Workers play a key role in creating safe, structured, and nurturing learning environments. You’ll work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, therapists, and external agencies (including social workers) to support pupils through positive, consistent behaviour strategies.
Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:
7. Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for learners
8. Implementing behaviour management strategies and individual behaviour support plans
9. De‑escalating challenging behaviour using positive, approved techniques (including Team‑Teach)
10. Supporting emotional regulation and encouraging positive peer relationships
11. Contributing to multi‑agency meetings and pupil reviews
12. Attending regular CPD training sessions if required
13. Recording and reporting behavioural or safeguarding incidents in line with school policies
14. Communicating effectively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
