Job Description:
MCS Group is delighted to be working with a large public sector employer in County Antrim to find an Environmental Health Officer to join their team. This role offers a 4-day working week, a competitive salary, and the potential for a longer contract. Location: Ballymena. Contract Length: 9 months with a likelihood of extension. Salary: £38.5k (pro-rata).
The Role:
* Conduct inspections, investigations, assessments, and activities across various environmental health functions, including public health, food safety, and housing.
* Take enforcement actions in line with legislation and guidance, including serving notices and preparing legal documents.
* Act as an expert witness, providing advice and reports for legal, planning, and public health matters.
* Collaborate with external agencies, businesses, and working groups to support environmental health goals.
* Participate in planning reviews, public consultations, health campaigns, and reactive monitoring, including out-of-hours responses.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, support training, and carry out administrative tasks and performance improvements.
The Person:
* Minimum of a degree in Environmental Health or equivalent experience.
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
* At least 1 year experience in a public sector role with similar responsibilities.
* Knowledge of current environmental health legislation.
* Stakeholder engagement skills.
* Valid driver's license and access to transport.
