Architect Associate Director – Benoy

The Associate Director leads and inspires their team to ensure that innovative, thought‑provoking international projects achieve high‑quality design standards and are delivered on time and on budget. They operate autonomously, requiring only minimal supervision, and support junior colleagues to reach their full potential. In addition to driving delivery, they support corporate business development strategies and actively generate new business across existing and future sectors and markets.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience of successfully leading and managing a team across large‑scale international projects through all RIBA stages
* Proactive approach to client management with a proven track record of engaging potential clients and partners
* Commercially astute, demonstrated through effective decision‑making, project resourcing and management
* Strong organisational and people‑management skills, encouraging collaboration and innovation within the teams
* Proficiency with commonly used computer applications within the discipline, including Revit
* Degree in a related design field or equivalent certification or skill level
* Professional registration or equivalent is preferred
* Experience in transport projects is essential

Responsibilities
Project Management
* Manage the team across international projects to deliver design and technical excellence that meets high‑quality standards
* Plan, coordinate and manage the project process, maintaining involvement throughout
* Liaise with Senior Associate/Director to ensure consistent delivery of innovative and thought‑provoking projects
* Lead project meetings and client presentations, acting as the primary client contact to maintain good relationships and maximise repeat business opportunities
Leadership
* Role‑model Benoy’s values and foster a collaborative environment where innovation is encouraged and best practice is shared
* Lead, guide and provide training to junior talent, offering timely feedback that supports continuous creative, technical and professional development
* Initiate or participate in studio or group activities, lead brainstorming sessions and manage conflicts effectively
Client Relationships
* Act as the primary contact for client interaction, maintaining good relationships to maximise repeat business opportunities
* Engage with colleagues to support the development of new business through internal and external communication – events, forums and publications
* Assist in the preparation of fee bids, undertaking fee proposals and negotiations for projects
Budget Control
* Demonstrate a sound understanding of cost control, fee charging and project finance, ensuring project fees are maximised and targets achieved through sensible management of time and resources
