The Gloucester Old Spot is a proudly independent, unpretentious and family-friendly pub on Kellaway Avenue. We serve fresh, seasonal British food, quality wines and an extensive drinks list designed for our local Bristol community. With a stunning, relaxed interior and a huge south-facing garden, we're the perfect spot for all occasions.
We're now looking for an ambitious and talented Assistant Manager to join our management team.
You'll work alongside our General and Deputy Managers to help run the pub day-to-day, train and develop our fantastic team, plan and deliver events (there are lots of them) and take the reins when the General Manager is away. The Old Spot is a busy, thriving pub – so you'll need to enjoy working at pace and leading from the front.
Key responsibilities
* Support the General Manager with the smooth day-to-day running of the business.
* Lead the team in the GM's absence, ensuring excellent service at all times.
* Manage rotas to ensure the right people are in the right place.
* Take responsibility for accurate stock control and ordering to achieve GP targets.
* Maintain consistently high standards in service, presentation and cleanliness.
* Mentor and support new staff, setting the tone on service, behaviour and appearance.
* Ensure compliance with all licensing, health & safety and regulatory obligations.
* Keep calm under pressure and deliver great guest experiences even at peak times.
What we're looking for
* At least 2 years' experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality.
* A proven ability to inspire and motivate a team.
* Passion for delivering outstanding guest service.
* Organised, practical and calm – whether managing rotas, planning events or unblocking a sink
* A strong eye for detail and high personal standards.
* Energetic, friendly and sociable – a true people person.
What we offer
* Competitive salary plus TRONC
* Complimentary staff meals on shift.
* 50% discount on food, anytime.
* Staff-price drinks.
* A chance to work in one of Bristol's most loved pubs with a brilliant team and loyal customers.
* 42 hours per week but we're open to a conversation if you're the right person and want a bit of flexibility.
If you love hospitality and want to be part of a thriving independent pub, we'd love to hear from you.
