Senior Process Engineer – Pharma/Bioindustrial/F&B – UK Expansion - Partnership Track

LAPORTE is an international engineering group specializing in the design of Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Agri-industrial and Food & Beverage manufacturing facilities. With over 480 employees across Canada, USA, France, Belgium and Switzerland, we are now expanding into the United Kingdom.
We are seeking to establish our UK operations by recruiting three key professionals: one mechanical engineer, one electrical/instrumentation/control engineer and one process engineer to support our international clients with operations in the UK.

This role is home‑based (remote) with up to 50% travel to client sites. Our first UK office will be established in Kent and/or Cambridgeshire; other locations may be considered.
Responsibilities:
* Lead proposal development, contract management, and client relationship management.
* Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, drawings, and technical specifications (including PFDs, P&IDs, and mass and heat balances).
* Deliver process design for projects involving unit operations such as cell culture, fermentation, centrifugation, membrane filtration, liquid processing and extraction, aseptic processing, powder handling, and packaging.
* Design process utilities such as pure water, clean steam, process tanks, process piping, and CIP/SIP systems.
* Support the start-up and commissioning of manufacturing and process systems.
* Contribute to the development, recruitment, and training of a UK-based process design team.
Qualifications
* Strong entrepreneurial spirit.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) – Preferred.
* Candidates working toward CEng will also be considered.
* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline;
* Proven leadership, communication, organizational, and project-management skills, alongside solid technical expertise;
* 8+ years' experience in engineering consultancy within the UK, ideally in bio-industrial, food & beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing sectors, or other process-driven industries;
* Familiarity with hygienic design standards (e.g. ASME BPE, 3-A, EHEDG).
* Understanding of HACCP requirements, process safety management (PSM), and process hazard analysis (PHA)
* Experience in process modelling software (e.g. PIPE-FLO, SuperPro, SchedulePro, or Aspen Plus).
* Hands-on experience in plant start-up and commissioning activities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD and working knowledge of Plant3D and Navisworks.
