From Swimming lessons, to walking football and everything in-between we are driven to provide fun and welcoming sessions to support the whole community to be active, both within our leisure centres and in the local community. We are looking for an Events Manager to join our friendly and professional team. We are looking for someone who has a good awareness of the industry, someone who is able to bring new and exciting ideas to the team. Ideally you will have good interpersonal skills, able to negotiate and persuade people, both internally and externally. Working and leading the team, you must have a team orientated approach to work. Duties To contribute to and understand the business and budgetary performance of the centre. To be a proactive member of the team. To be primarily responsible for generating new event and conference business. Maintaining existing bookings with high standards that exceed customer expectation. Manage all aspects of the event on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly. Communicate Event plans to all team members. To actively manage and develop and motivate a team of operational staff. To support the day to day duty management and running of the leisure facilities to the highest standard. To support general daily operations where required. Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday - Sunday Requirements Experience of problem solving, organisational and customer service Experience in managing bookings and administration An awareness of industry developments, new activities, trends and research Commercial awareness which translates into contributing to a successful and financially viable operation A passion for the industry demonstrated through continuous professional development General computer user skills Strong people management skills Good verbal and written communication skills Excellent time management skills, able to deal with a number of priorities at once Team orientated approach, able to work across organisation boundaries and demonstrate interest and be supportive of the work of staff and colleagues To be able to work flexibly with a level of autonomy and decision making confidence Able to think on your feet and respond to variable demands Mobility to travel across sites Well developed interpersonal skills, able to negotiate and persuade people both internally and externally Desirable Experience in selling and promotion of facilities Experience in the Events industry An understanding of identifying staff training & development requirements and identifying development opportunities Benefits We want you to love coming to work, feeling healthy, happy and valued.
