The Role
This is a replacement post to join a service of six consultants. The service is supported by 2 Specialty Doctors, 4 Specialist Registrars, on the South East of Scotland Training Scheme, along with GPSTs and Foundation trainees. There is 24-hour Obstetric Anaesthetic cover, full neonatal cover and an 8 cot SCBU on site. Advanced Practice Midwives support resident on-call provision. Outpatient clinics are held within the hospital and in towns throughout the Scottish Borders region in GP surgeries and Health Centres.
The candidate must hold MRCOG or equivalent and must also be registered with the General Medical Council with a licence to practice on the Specialist Register for Obstetrics and Gynaecology before taking up the post or in training within 6 months of expected date of obtaining CCT or equivalent. Existing consultant special interests include urogyaecology, sub-fertility and reproductive endocrine services, and maternal and fetal medicine. Candidates with a special interest to consolidate or enhance the current service would be welcomed. We are seeking consultants with general obstetrics and gynaecology skills but in addition a specialist interest in maternal medicine. In addition, there may be an opportunity to develop a specialist interest area in partnership with a Tertiary Hospital.
