Overview
The job involves joining a small team of Local Nature Reserve Officers in the Countryside Access Team to manage Local Nature Reserves and various habitats, coastal sites, woodlands and parkland landscapes, as well as smaller picnic sites.
Responsibilities
* Manage a range of Local Nature Reserves and associated landscapes and sites.
* Plan, organise and lead public events and liaise with volunteers and the community sector.
* Undertake site surveys, small scale works and manage contractors.
* Coordinate with other officers and provide support as part of a team, while working independently as needed.
* Ensure safety, health and environmental practices are followed; handle access to machinery and equipment responsibly.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience of habitat management, woodland management and grounds maintenance is essential.
* Experience in landscaping and ground maintenance is required.
* Good communication, organisational and IT skills; ability to work on own initiative, plan and prioritise tasks, and work lone in remote countryside.
* Experience with sharing information and coordinating with volunteers or community groups.
Working Arrangements
This post is mainly Monday to Friday, but some weekend, bank holiday and evening work may be required.
