Job Description
Starrycare is seeking an experienced and dynamic Clinical Lead Mental Health Nurse to provide expert clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality mental health care in a prison setting. The post holder will lead on complex assessments, care planning, risk management, and service development while ensuring safe, evidence-based, and recovery-focused care in line with professional and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and oversee the assessment, planning, and delivery of mental health care
* Provide clinical and managerial supervision to nursing staff
* Manage complex cases and support risk assessment processes (including ACCT/CPA)
* Promote recovery-focused, person-centred care
* Ensure compliance with NMC standards and clinical governance requirements
* Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement
* Work collaboratively with prison staff, psychiatrists, and external agencies
* Maintain accurate electronic patient records
Requirements
1. Registered Mental Health Nurse (NMC Registered)
2. Degree in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent
3. Significant post-registration experience (Band 6 or equivalent)
4. Experience providing clinical supervision and leadership
5. Strong knowledge of clinical governance and risk management
6. Non-Medical Prescribing qualification (desirable or willingness to undertake)
7. Excellent communication and organisational skills
8. Ability to work autonomously in a secure environment
