Summary
Amber Valley Borough Council is looking for an Environmental Health Officer to join our Regulation Team, which handles Food Hygiene, Public Health, Health and Safety, and Animal Welfare Licensing. The role is accessible to the public and local businesses across the region, ranging from major manufacturing units to small domestic enterprises.
Requirements include a certificate of registration with the EHRB/CIEH Register of Practitioners, recent experience conducting food hygiene interventions (A–E rated businesses) and health‑and‑safety enforcement in a local government setting. Experience with animal‑welfare licensing enforcement and accident investigation is desirable. Candidates must also have a full driving licence, be physically fit to access a range of premises, and hold the right to work in the UK.
Proficiency in food hygiene, a willingness to develop in health and safety and animal welfare domains, strong communication, self‑motivation, and responsibility for individual work targets are essential.
This position requires on‑site work only, offering flexible working hours, a casual user car allowance, free office car parking, personal and professional development, and access to the local government pension scheme.
