Ascot Heath Primary School is looking for two co-opted governors to join our dedicated and supportive governing board. We are particularly keen to welcome individuals with experience in finance (accounting/funding), people leadership (HR/DE&I), or technology (AI/security) who can bring strategic insight and professional expertise to help shape the future of our school.

Our governing board is a diverse group of volunteers made up of parents, education and business professionals. We use our collective knowledge, experience and skills to develop strategic plans in partnership with the headteacher, promoting the continuous improvement of Ascot Heath Primary School with the children always at the forefront of our decisions.
The Role of a Governor:
School governors play a vital role in the leadership and direction of the school. Working as part of a team, they provide strategic oversight, support and challenge to ensure the school continues to deliver high standards of education and wellbeing for all pupils.
Governors do not become involved in the day-to-day running of the school. Instead, they focus on setting the school’s vision and values, overseeing finances and resources, and holding senior leaders to account for educational performance and improvement. It is a rewarding voluntary role, requiring roughly 15 hours each term, where your time, expertise and perspective can make a genuine difference to the lives of our children and the wider community.
Experience:
You do not need previous experience as a governor or on any board to apply. We are looking for individuals who can bring professional expertise, curiosity and a willingness to learn. Strong communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team will be important. Full training and ongoing support are provided, so enthusiasm and commitment are all we ask for.
