Assistant Buyer / Junior Buyer Location: Crawley Type: Full Time | Permanent Salary: £25,000 – £27,000 per annum Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm or 9:00am–5:30pm The Opportunity Guided Talent is recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering/manufacturing business for an Assistant Buyer / Junior Buyer to join their Purchasing Department. This role would suit someone with experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment who is looking to develop their career within procurement. You will work as part of a small, supportive team, helping to secure the timely and cost-effective supply of parts and materials. Key Responsibilities * Raise, place, and chase purchase orders in line with business requirements * Monitor stock levels and place orders when inventory is low * Track outstanding orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery * Assist with internal budget control and cost monitoring * Support supplier price negotiations and cost price management * Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation * Communicate effectively with internal departments to support production and operational needs * Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers Skills & Experience Required * Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment * Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) * Experience with cost price negotiation or supplier price discussions * Strong communication and listening skills * Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities * Professional, organised, and reliable approach to work Why Apply? * Excellent opportunity to develop a career within purchasing and procurement * Exposure to supplier negotiation and cost control within an engineering environment * Stable, full-time role with clear working hours
