As Sous Chef you will be responsible for: Assisting the Head Chef in managing and motivating team members through effective communication, training, and development, in accordance with company policies and relevant employment legislation, ensuring HR procedures are followed. Assisting with budgets, putting in place appropriate mechanisms to effectively manage costs and all factors relating to profitable performance of the kitchen function, ensuring appropriate plans are created, agreed, communicated, implemented, and reviewed. Assisting the Head Chef to ensure company policies relating to stock management and stock ordering are implemented and monitored, taking appropriate action to proactively resolve issues. Ensuring all kitchen team members receive appropriate training, coaching and development to provide effective and efficient service. Maintaining effective communication and relationships with all internal and external stakeholders. Ensuring the kitchen areas, fixtures and equipment are properly maintained and presented to exceptional standards. Ensuring the security of the kitchen and storage areas are maintained at all times. Ensuring a safe environment is maintained in compliance with health, safety, fire, hygiene, and security legislation. Seeking to continuously develop knowledge relating to the industry sector and competitor activity, to provide input into future plans and activities, and so maintain and enhance market position. Assisting with the recruitment, selection, and utilisation of kitchen team members to achieve the optimum use of resource in line with business peaks and troughs. Contributing to the development of the hotel business plan, projects, and initiatives to continually develop the hotel business and market position. Essential Criteria A minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a Senior/Sous Chef. The ability to demonstrate strong people management and leadership capabilities. A dynamic, innovative, passionate, and resilient, modern day commercially focused leader. Standards driven self -starter and completer, who inspires the team to deliver an exceptional guest experience. Excellent working knowledge of Food Hygiene, Environmental Health and Safety and HACCP legislation. High standards of attention to quality and speed. Ability to work under pressure within a team. IT literate with previous experience of managing rotas. Excellent communication skills.
