Position Title IT Support Specialist Location Birmingham Department Finance and Administration Reports To Finance Director Role Overview The IT Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the UK business across all aspects of IT administration. This includes maintaining local IT infrastructure, providing technical support to staff, liaising with head office ICT teams, and ensuring compliance with corporate IT policies and security standards. Key Responsibilities The following outlines the primary responsibilities of the role. This list is not exhaustive, and certain tasks may be performed collaboratively. Technical Responsibilities IT Infrastructure: Oversee and manage the local network environment, including servers, CCTV systems, switches, firewalls, telephony systems, and associated infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and uptime. IT Support: Provide first-line IT support to all UK staff, resolving hardware, software, and networking issues. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently and effectively. Hardware Deployment: Deploy, stage, enrol, and configure new devices within the network, ensuring correct software installation and setup. Cybersecurity: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity practices and ensure required certifications (e.g., Cyber Essentials) are maintained annually. Software & Systems Implementation: Manage and support the rollout and maintenance of ERP, CRM, WMS, and other business systems. Data Management & Analytics: Maintain data integrity and support reporting and business intelligence tools. Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Support and maintain robust disaster recovery strategies in line with the companys business resumption plan. Manage server, firewall, and network installations within the UK. Oversee CCTV and door access systems. Support warehouse management systems (WMS). Maintain and oversee the company telephony system. Provide and manage IT infrastructure and equipment for new office spaces or building extensions. Leadership & Management Responsibilities Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with local stakeholders, international head office ICT teams, and third-party suppliers. Digital Strategy Delivery: Manage and contribute to annual digital objectives and initiatives. Stakeholder Communication: Translate technical requirements into clear business language for senior leadership. Project Management: Deliver IT and digital projects on time and within budget. Vendor & Budget Management: Negotiate and manage IT-related contracts (e.g., printers, mobile services, IT suppliers) and oversee third-party providers. Strategic Alignment: Align IT objectives with broader business strategy. Lead digital initiatives across departments to enhance efficiency and digital capability. Support the introduction and adoption of new digital solutions across the business. Provide onboarding and training for staff on business systems and innovative software solutions. Act as primary liaison between the UK business and head office ICT department. Serve as first point of contact for key business-critical systems. Skills & Qualifications Essential Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years experience in an operational IT environment. Strong adaptability and ability to stay current with emerging technologies. Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to deliver practical, scalable solutions. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Confident decision-making skills, including the ability to make data-informed decisions under pressure.
