How you'll make an impact in this role
Our Pharmacy Department provides patient-centred services including clinical pharmacy, dispensing, procurement, sterile and cytotoxic manufacturing, and clinical trial support. The department promotes the Quality Use of Medicines, ensuring medications are used safely, effectively, and cost-efficiently throughout. As a Pharmacy Technician, you’ll join a supportive team with on-the-job training from experienced staff. The role offers opportunities to develop a pharmacy career and potentially study toward a Certificate III in Health Services / Pharmacy Support. Hours are rostered across a 7-day week, mostly on weekdays.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Providing assistance and support to the Pharmacists in the preparation, labelling and dispensing of medications and sterile preparations
2. Performing medication expiry date checking and rotation of stock and assisting with inventory management
3. Performing ward dispensing and charging based on Omnicell activity reports
4. Reconciling scripts owing and assisting with preparation of H.I.C claims, follow up Medicare and concession numbers, assist with PBS online
5. Managing drug returns from wards/units
6. Receipting, invoicing and crediting of pharmacy stock
7. Attending to general cleanliness and tidiness of the department including cleaning, decontaminating sterile cabinets and microbiological testing
What we're looking for:
8. Previous pharmacy experience and/or previous experience in a hospital setting advantageous, however, training will be provided
9. Sound written and verbal communication skills
10. Ability to maintain excellent levels of customer service
11. Well developed computer skills
12. A positive attitude and great work ethic with a team focus
13. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters
14. Sound prioritising and organisation skills
