As a health adviser, you are the patients first point of contact, using your skills, alongside specialist computer software, to assess their symptoms and give them the help and reassurance they need.
We can offer a competitive base salary, starting at £25,760 rising to £27,476 after two years (per annum, pro rata for part-time employees). In addition, the role attracts enhanced payments for unsocial hours worked in the evenings and weekends.
After 18 months as a band 3 Health Advisor, you will automatically progress to a band 4 Enhanced Health Advisor, subject to meeting the required criteria. Additional duties include coaching less experienced staff and supporting Team Leaders in the call centres.
We can offer a range of full and part-time rotas. There is a requirement to work six out of eight public holidays (pro rata depending on rota) as well as three weekends out of five.
Training
You will receive comprehensive, paid training that will enable you to fully support our patients. The training is nine weeks full time. You will commence your role on a training contract and, upon successful completion of your training, you will be issued a permanent contract.
Main duties of the job
* Assess and negotiate with callers to ensure the best patient care and outcome.
* Deal with a wide variety of patient calls, including highly emotional situations, with compassion and professionalism.
* Apply strong customer service skills to manage complex and sensitive information, ensuring appropriate care pathways.
* Participate in training and development across the IUC Service.
* Coaching of less experienced staff and support for Team Leaders in the call centres.

Person specification
Qualifications / Knowledge
* Minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade C or above or equivalent, including English (or have successfully completed NHS Pathways training and/or have considerable customer service skills and experience to demonstrate).
* IT literate.
* Ability to deal with confidential, sensitive and distressing information.
* Able to work under pressure.
Experience
* Excellent telephone manner.
