Would you like to undertake full and part refurbishment of complex mechanical equipment, utilizing your skills to re-engineer where possible? If so, we have an excellent opportunity for you to join our workshop as a Mechanical Technician.
What you'll do
Joining our friendly and supportive Engineering Maintenance team, you will help repair and refurbish equipment from our water treatment works to uphold the highest standards for our customers.
This hands-on role involves refurbishment and repair work in our asset servicing workshop, including diagnosing faults and repairing critical assets. You will also contribute to local decision-making and suggest improvements for underperforming plant.
You will take full ownership of jobs from start to finish, ensuring successful resolution and completion.
You will have opportunities to learn and develop your mechanical skills and knowledge further, with potential for growth within the business.
This is a mobile role requiring travel across the Region as needed to cover shortfalls and holidays. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with overtime available and a 24/7 on-call rota after training.
What you'll need
You will enjoy a hands-on role repairing a wide range of water treatment equipment and will need to have:
* Sound technical knowledge
* Experience repairing gearboxes, pumps, compactors, blowers, compressors, macerators, inlet screens, etc.
* A relevant City and Guilds mechanical qualification
* Completed an apprenticeship or formal mechanical training
* A can-do attitude and flexible approach to work
* A good basic knowledge of health and safety
* The ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
* Good computer literacy
Previous experience in the water industry in an EM&I role or workshop repairs is desirable but not essential.
