Controls Engineer


* £50,000 – £55,000 basic salary DOE
* Pension
* 24 days leave + public holidays
* Relocation support negotiable
* Days – Monday to Friday (early finish on Fridays)


Location: South Lanarkshire, Scotland

This well-invested site combines cutting-edge technology, a committed team, and a culture built on continuous improvement, accountability, and sustainability.


They are now seeking a talented Controls Engineer to design, implement, and support automation systems on site, working on PLC programming, robotics integration, vision systems, and special manufacturing machinery.


Key Accountabilities:


* Design, implement, and maintain automation and control systems, including Siemens PLCs (Step 7/TIA Portal), ABB/Fanuc/KUKA robots, and vision systems
* Lead projects from conception to completion, including installation, commissioning, and testing of automated systems
* Upgrade legacy PLC programs and HMI interfaces to improve performance and reliability
* Respond to production breakdowns, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures
* Integrate laser scanning, EOAT, and automated material handling into manufacturing processes
* Produce technical documentation, procedures, and training materials
* Work collaboratively with engineering, operations, and leadership teams to optimise automation capabilities
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements


Experience Required:


* Experienced Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer or a related role
* Degree or apprenticeship in Electrical, Mechanical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering
* Proven experience with Siemens S7/TIA Portal PLC programming
* Hands-on experience with industrial robotics (ABB, Fanuc, KUKA) and automation integration
* Experience in a high-volume manufacturing or warehouse automation type environment
* Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills
* Based in, or willing to relocate to, South Lanarkshire, Scotland
