Job overview The Named Nurse will lead on the safeguarding of children and the promotion of their welfare within ASPH. They will be responsible for assuring the Trust Board that a high quality safeguarding service is being provided within ASPH. The Named Nurse role is to seek to improve the health outcomes for children and families by the promotion of innovative practice and collaborative working across our multi-agency arrangements, stimulating the awareness of health needs and influencing policies promoting the health and wellbeing of vulnerable children. The role involves providing highly specialist advice and clinical support to staff employed and commissioned by ASPH, maintaining appropriate documentation and records. To facilitate and provide a culture of safeguarding support through safeguarding supervision and training whilst being a source of knowledge in the area of safeguarding children. Advert Working closely with the Head of Safeguarding, Named Doctor for safeguarding the Named Nurse and other Named Professionals will provide an evidence-based service, ensuring quality care to vulnerable children and their families. This includes being a source of expertise for ASPH and promoting excellent standards of professional practice in relation to safeguarding children. The Named Nurse for children will manage a team of Safeguarding Children Specialists in safeguarding, delivering supervision and professional development opportunities to enable them to become specialist experts in this challenging field. For more information about a career at ASPH please visit: www.asph-careers.org Detailed job description and main responsibilities Professional advice on matters relating to the safeguarding of children to ASPH, the Local Safeguarding Children Partnerships in surrey, and other local public sector and voluntary sector organisations Advice to staff at ASPH on the provision and strategic development of safeguarding services across each Division delivering health and social care services for the local population. The post holder will also contribute to the continuing development of a high quality and effective inter-agency response to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and deputise for the Head of Safeguarding at local Safeguarding Children partnership forums. Provide Clinical Commissioners with annual assurance of NHS Commissioning Standards and quarterly Key Performance Data which indicate fulfilment of contractual standards. Line manage and supervise staff in the Safeguarding Team who provide consultancy, advice and training in relation to both children and adult safeguarding issues and concerns. To develop systems which enhance multi-agency / partnership working to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. To establish and maintain effective liaison and working relationships with other areas of the health economy and partnership agencies such as social services, police, education and the voluntary sector To ensure that staff working within ASPH have a clear understanding of the correct communication channels for multi-professional and multi-agency working.
