Job summary
An exciting opportunity at the Royal United Hospital has arisen to join the Neurology Nurse Team as a Band 7 Epilepsy Specialist Nurse.
We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic Adult or Learning Disabilities Registered Nurse to work in the Epilepsy team alongside the current Band 7 Epilepsy Specialist Nurse. The role offers numerous learning opportunities in Neurology, Epilepsy, and Specialist Nursing. We will consider experienced Band 6 applicants or those already in a Band 7 role. While expert Epilepsy knowledge is not essential, excellent communication skills and an understanding of managing long-term health conditions, including Learning Disabilities, are important. A neurology background may be helpful, but experience in emergency settings or intensive care could also be suitable for career progression.
Main duties of the job
The role focuses on delivering high-quality specialist care to support patients with Epilepsy. Responsibilities include assisting with nurse-led clinics (including maternity epilepsy and transition clinics), manning the epilepsy advice line, and supporting the Emergency Department with seizure admissions. The successful candidate will support and develop the service in collaboration with the Band 7 Epilepsy Specialist Nurse, Consultant Neurologists, and community-based teams.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training (Essential):
* Registered Nurse Part 1, 2, 12 with NMC
* Evidence of ongoing CPD Level 3
Desirable:
* Neurology Course
Knowledge and Experience (Essential):
* Knowledge of nursing theory and best practices, particularly in the specialty
* Significant clinical experience as a Band 6 Registered Nurse
