Employment Solicitor - Commutable from Cheshire, Merseyside, North Wales, and South Manchester
A leading UK business is seeking an Employment Solicitor to join its Legal Services Department at their Head Office. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor to become a trusted advisor to the business, providing employment law advice and support to the company and its group/affiliated businesses.
The role will involve handling Employment Tribunal litigation (forming the largest part of the work), transactional/project support, and ad hoc advisory work across the full range of employment matters. The Employment Solicitor will report to and work alongside a Senior Employment Solicitor within the wider Legal Services Department, a large team of professionals.
The successful candidate will be joining a fast-paced and varied environment within an entrepreneurial company with international reach; therefore, they will require confidence, the ability to think on their feet, and strong communication skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for a solicitor to work in a supportive team that highly values training, with the variety and quality of work typically found in a large firm. Applications are encouraged from candidates with in-house experience or those in private practice seeking to move in-house.
Key responsibilities include acting as a trusted advisor on employment law matters, managing their own caseload with autonomy (under supervision), and demonstrating strong teamwork abilities.
The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial awareness, strategic thinking skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines. They should also be able to build rapport and communicate effectively with other departments and affiliates, and demonstrate strong computer skills, particularly in MS Office tools.
Essential qualifications include significant experience in employment law, particularly in managing a caseload of Employment Tribunal matters. The candidate should have worked predominantly in employment law, mainly or wholly on the respondent side. Candidates must be qualified solicitors with at least 3 years’ PQE in a law firm or in-house department. While PQE levels are a guide, applications are welcome from all candidates who can demonstrate the necessary skills.
The company offers a highly competitive and comprehensive benefits package, including:
* Generous staff discounts
* Substantial holiday allowance
* A competitive pension scheme
* On-site facilities
* Family-friendly policies
* Health and wellbeing support
* Additional lifestyle benefits
This role is based at the company's Head Office, offering an accessible location for professionals residing in Cheshire, Merseyside, North Wales, and South Manchester.
