A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join our busy Family Placement Team. This team is responsible for recruiting, assessing, and supporting kinship and foster carers to care for children and young people on a full-time and short break basis.
This temporary post has been created to support the Family Placement Team in delivering the Promise and Closer to Home Strategy. The post is temporary at present, but we are in a phase of restructuring, and permanent opportunities may become available as we develop our service.
The successful candidate will manage a caseload supporting current registered foster carers and conducting new assessments. A creative and flexible approach will be required to meet with prospective carers outside normal working hours to complete assessments within agreed timescales.
The Council aims to increase local foster carer availability to meet diverse needs. The successful candidate will use a creative and strength-based approach to maximize recruitment opportunities. A good understanding of the experiences of looked-after children and their families is essential. We encourage applications from care-experienced individuals or experienced children and family social workers.
Supervision and support will be provided regularly by a manager within the Family Placement Team. The successful candidate must maintain SSSC registration and PVG scheme membership. You should be mobile across the council area and committed to continuous professional development. A degree or diploma in Social Work is required.
