We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Night Porter to join our team at The Bold Hotel, a licensed hotel. As the Night Porter, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel during the night shift, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining security and cleanliness throughout the property. This role is vital to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
* Guest Services:
* Greet guests upon arrival during the night shift and provide assistance as required.
* Handle guest requests, complaints, and inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
* Ensure guests are checked in and out according to hotel policies, including managing the payment process.
* Assist guests with luggage when needed and direct them to their rooms.
* Security and Safety:
* Maintain a secure environment by monitoring surveillance cameras, locking doors, and conducting regular security checks of the property.
* Respond to any incidents or emergencies, ensuring guests' safety at all times.
* Ensure that the hotel complies with all health and safety regulations during the night shift.
Hotel Operations:
* Assist with the general upkeep of the hotel, including cleaning and tidying public areas, corridors, and restrooms.
* Manage keys, maintain room inventories, and follow the hotel's procedures for guest access and emergency situations.
* Report maintenance issues or damage to the General Manager.
Bar and Licensing:
* Serve guests at the hotel bar, ensuring compliance with licensing laws.
* Monitor alcohol consumption and ensure that the hotel's license is adhered to.
* Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and handled responsibly.
Cashing Up Tills:
* At the end of the night shift, ensure that all tills are cashed up accurately and that all financial transactions are properly reconciled.
* Ensure the correct amount of cash is in the till and provide a report of any discrepancies or issues.
Administrative Tasks:
* Maintain accurate records of guest arrivals, departures, and any incidents or complaints during the night shift.
* Provide the Night Manager with end-of-shift reports, detailing any important events or issues.
Additional Duties:
* Assist with any other tasks that may arise during the night shift, as directed by the Night Manager or Hotel Management.
Qualifications and Skills:
Essential:
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
* Basic knowledge of hotel management software is a plus.
* Must be over the legal age for alcohol service and fully aware of licensing laws.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a night shift role within the hospitality industry.
* First Aid or security-related qualifications are an advantage.
* Knowledge of fire safety procedures.
Working Conditions:
* Night shift hours, typically from 10pm to 7am, including weekends and holidays.
* Ability to work in a physically demanding role, including standing, walking, and lifting.
* The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure environment.
