Job description The Bank is on its journey to a cloud Data Platform. As we grow, we are evolving our operating model to build and maintain our analytical services more optimally. We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer with a good understanding and proficiency in cloud Data Platforms, particularly with Azure, Terraform, and GitHub experience. You will be an important cog in the technical implementation, building and maintaining services of the Data Platform. Your knowledge and skills will ensure that we deliver a modern toolkit to ensure that Bank has the analytical capabilities it needs. Role Requirements You will: Have a good DevOps background, and experience in cloud Data Platforms. You must follow a good development lifecycle, be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing. Be equipped with the right technical skills - Azure applications, GitHub and Terraform key for this role. An approach which prefers to automate will be necessary too. You will utilise your knowledge and skills to support and maintain the platform, including ensuing it is secure and compliant. Respond to incidents, manage change and investigate problems to a satisfactory conclusion, whilst minimising disruption and ensuring service continuity. Work as part of a team, offering and receiving help and support so that the team meet their goals. You will engage with a variety of colleagues across the Bank both within and outside of technology, so you must be comfortable having both technical and non-technical discussions and producing comprehensive documentation. Minimum Criteria: DevOps background with experience in Data Platforms and Cloud Infrastructure. Experience in integrating Terraform into CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions to automate deployment workflows. Working knowledge of many Azure Data Services and associated applications, including (but not limited to) Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Monitor, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Identity Management. Demonstrable experience with monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning in cloud environments. Ability to understand and maintain existing Terraform code repositories and create new ones. Proficiency in scripting and coding languages such as Python, Powershell or Bash to automate tasks and manage infrastructure. Essential Criteria In addition to the technical skills above: Very good communication and collaboration skills. Good experience and knowledge of the development lifecycle. A commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to stay updated with the latest technologies and methodologies in the DevOps field. Desirable Criteria It would be advantageous to also have: Azure Administrator and / or DevOps Engineer certifications. Hands-on experience of Agile/Scrum. Experience / knowledge of a variety of Azure platform applications such as Purview, API Management (APIM), PowerBI. Further info We do not expect new joiners to have skills across all the technical areas we are looking towards, but we do want you to enjoy learning and will support you to fill technical gaps. The job will work on flexible hours, but you will be part of a rota, so at times your working hours may be more rigid. Salary and Benefits Information We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. We offer a salary as follows: Leeds circa £40,320 - £45,360 In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below: Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
