Role Summary
We are seeking a qualified Electrician with a strong foundation in electrical installation and a genuine interest in developing their career within the fire detection and life safety industry. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced Fire Systems Engineers, gaining training and on-site experience to become a fully qualified Fire Systems Engineer, while still supporting general installation works when required.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of fire alarm and life safety systems
• Carry out general electrical installation works where needed
• Work alongside senior engineers to develop knowledge of fire alarm systems, fault finding, and maintenance
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications
• Ensure all work is completed in line with BS7671 and relevant fire safety standards (BS5839-1 preferred)
• Maintain accurate records of works completed and materials used
• Adhere to company and site health & safety requirements
• Represent Astro Fire Systems professionally at all times
Required Qualifications & Experience
• ECS / CSCS Card (Essential)
• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical Installation or equivalent
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) preferred
• Full UK Driving Licence (clean)
• Experience in electrical installation (minimum 2 years desirable)
• Some knowledge or exposure to fire alarm systems (e.g. installation, servicing, or commissioning) advantageous
