The Electrical Estimator will play a key role within ECS Engineering Services' pre-contract/work winning team, preparing technically robust and commercially competitive electrical estimates, most usually as part of a wide M&E submission.
The role directly supports business growth, margin protection and the development of ECS's in-house electrical capability.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical installation and refurbishment works including labour, materials, plant and subcontract elements.
Produce complete estimates and proposals for electrically biased projects or contribute electrical elements to multi-discipline tenders.
Review and interpret tender documentation, drawings and specifications.
Undertake cable sizing, voltage drop and protection calculations sufficient to inform pricing and validate design assumptions.
Utilise estimating and design software (e.g., Trimble Electrical Designer – experience desirable, training can be provided if experience exists in similar packages).
Liaise with Mechanical Estimators and Delivery Teams to ensure pricing aligns with constructability and programme.
Issue technical enquiries and evaluate supplier quotations (including MCC and PLC suppliers).
Contribute to technical submissions, risk registers and value engineering proposals.
Identify cost risks and opportunities through structured commercial analysis.
Provide detailed handover documentation to project teams following award.
Support business development through tender follow-up and pre-contract strategy discussions.
Assist in development of pricing libraries and electrical cost benchmarks.
Contribute to the growth and development of ECS's in-house electrical capability.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Understanding of LV systems within industrial or hazardous environments.
Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Installation.
Sound knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations (BS
Experience estimating electrical works in industrial or infrastructure environments.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
Effective communication skills.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
HNC/HND (Level 4/5) or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering.
Experience within Water Utilities or regulated infrastructure sectors.
Experience with Environment Agency or flood defence assets.
Experience using Trimble Electrical Designer or similar software.
Understanding of HV systems within industrial or hazardous environments.
Experience within multi-discipline M&E projects.
