Barking and Dagenham College have an exciting opportunity open for a Safeguarding Coordinator to join our Safeguarding team. You will join us on a full-time, permanent and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £33,929-£36,796 per annum inclusive of London Weighting. The Safeguarding Coordinator role: Reporting to the Head of Safeguarding and/or the Director of Student Welfare & Support (DSL), the Safeguarding Co-ordinator will be responsible for ensuring that operational tasks related to Safeguarding are performed to a high standard and within agreed timescales. The post holder will work closely with staff across the college, particularly the support and welfare team, to promote positive communications with external partners, and secure the best outcomes for students Key Responsibilities of the role : Provide a first point of contact for safeguarding enquiries from staff, parents or professionals Implement Barking and Dagenham Colleges safeguarding/child protection policy and procedures Act as a Safeguarding Officer and maintain a caseload of safeguarding referrals Initiate and refer students to outside agencies and co-ordinate referrals Provide professional support, guidance, and advice to staff on safeguarding issues to ensure staff follow due process as per BDC policies and procedures Our ideal Safeguarding Coordinator should have the following qualifications, skills and experience: Have, or be willing to undertake, Designated Safeguarding Lead qualification English and Maths qualifications at level 2 or above Experience of working within a safeguarding role /prevent duty role and responding to safeguarding issues Experience of working in an education environment Experience of complex case management Able to exhibit a high level of communication, interpersonal and presentation skills and can liaise and work collaboratively with professionals from other agencies, managers, and key service stakeholders Ability to manage a complex workload including competing priorities, achieve targets and respond quickly and flexibly to changing needs and demands If you are passionate about success and can do the above, then we want to hear from you!
