Main duties of the job

We are delighted to offer an exciting secondment opportunity for a motivated and experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our expanding CAMHS Community Team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.

This new role has been created to support nursing career development and enhance advanced nursing practice within our core CAMHS service. It offers the chance to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering high‑quality mental health care for children and young people across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

At CAMHS, we pride ourselves on being a close‑knit, supportive, and compassionate team with a shared passion for providing outstanding care. We look forward to welcoming a colleague who shares our commitment to collaboration, clinical excellence and continual learning.

About The Role

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be a key practitioner within the Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Service, using your clinical expertise and leadership skills to enhance service delivery and support the professional development of others. You will provide supervision to members of the nursing team within West Cornwall CAMHS, promoting best practice and professional growth.

In Addition, You Will

* Lead the nursing provision within the Integrated Care Area (ICA), working alongside the Lead Psychologist and fellow Clinical Nurse Specialists to ensure cohesive and effective service delivery.

* Contribute to multidisciplinary team working, service development, and governance activities including research, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
* Provide consultation, advice and liaison to colleagues and external agencies to promote coordinated, high‑quality care.

Location

The primary base for this role will be Bolitho House, Penzance, with regular travel required across West Cornwall and to our secondary base at The Hive, Redruth. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and forward‑thinking nurse to develop advanced clinical and leadership skills within a progressive and supportive service.

If you are passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people, and are ready to take the next step in your professional journey, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Working for our organisation

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust – including doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people’s homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Just over 532,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area, increasing the numbers of people who use our services.
