Overview

Project Engineering Lead - Fast Jet Support – Leonardo, Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Within the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) UK Line of Business and as part of the Fast Jet Sector, the role of Project Engineering Lead - Fast Jet Support – Captor Technical Support has become available. The role is responsible for owning, controlling and reporting the day-to-day engineering delivery for the back office services for all Typhoon Support contracts, interacting with core nation customers and export nations as applicable.


Responsibilities

* Take ownership and co-ordinate/manage the technical support work packages and periodically report on work package health.
* Manage the technical support team to ensure the back office demands for projects are executed.
* Lead the technical support activities for Typhoon Support which are Leonardo UK oriented.
* Provide guidance, interaction and direction to other members of the fast jet support back office.
* Communicate with Leonardo UK subject matter experts and design authorities within the RATS LoB.
* Interact with EuroRadar Work Share Partners for Captor-M/Radar 0.
* Attend and support appropriate IPT meetings and IPT tasks to support a successful IPT.


Accountability

* Deliver commitments to internal and external Customers and Partners.
* Develop and maintain Customer and Partner relationships and satisfaction.
* Mentor and manage the performance and development of the technical support team members.
* Manage the allocation of engineering tasks and ensure resources are in place to execute them.
* Provide engineering solutions and estimates to current and future bid/proposal activities.
* Maintain project compliance with company policies and procedures, through lifecycle management activities.


Key duties

* Deliver engineering performance on time and within budget where possible.
* Action work packages within the back-office Radar support engineering management teams to deliver front office requirements.
* Identify, manage and report project risk and mitigation activities.
* Report engineering performance internally and externally, including:
o Summary of overall contract/service performance
o Engineering Milestone status
o Monthly SOFT Report
o Key Technical Issues/Problems/Resolution
o Risk and Opportunity
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement focused on cost, performance and Customer/Partner satisfaction.
* Support future work through bids and organisational change activities.


What you’ll bring

* Essential
o Strong engineering background with experience in defence/government contracts.
o Excellent leadership skills with experience managing a multi-disciplined team.
o Experience in multi-company collaborations or partnered environments.
o Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and influence others.
o Decision-making based on relevant information.
o Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
o Adaptable and innovative with the ability to lead change initiatives.
o Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
* Desirable
o Understanding of Typhoon in-service support programmes or modern in-service approaches.
o Understanding of technical support for military aircraft in service at ML1/ML2 facilities.
o Experience with complex multi-stakeholder programmes and Life-Cycle Management processes.
o Understanding of the Typhoon Avionics systems.
o Experience delivering high value programmes/projects.

Intrinsic Factors

* Occasional UK, European, Middle East, and potentially worldwide travel with overnight stays.
* Enthusiastic and self-motivated with ability to develop relationships with stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
* Flexibility with regards to working hours; occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
* Must be PC literate and familiar with MS Office.
