Student Engagement Mentor Location: South Shields Working hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm (Monday to Friday) Contract type: Long term, immediate start, temporary contract Leader Education are seeking a committed and resilient Student Engagement Mentor to join a dedicated and enthusiastic team. In this role, you will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support students with social, emotional and behavioural needs. This school is a specialist secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) supporting students who are unable to access mainstream education. Pupils may have been permanently excluded or be at risk of exclusion, be experiencing anxiety or personal crisis affecting attendance, or be new to the area with identified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Key Responsibilities Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs. Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour management. Assist in delivering personalised interventions and support strategies. Develop strong, professional and trusting relationships with students. Encourage engagement in learning and classroom participation. Manage and de-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external agencies. Monitor and record student progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
