We’re offering an exciting Level 6 Nuclear Scientist - Nuclear Engineering Degree Apprenticeship, specialising in Control & Instrumentation Engineering, at our Oldbury Site in South Gloucestershire - where you’ll gain a full degree, hands-on experience, and expert mentorship, all while earning a salary.
What Is the Apprenticeship
This Government-approved Level 6 Nuclear Scientist – Nuclear Engineering Degree Apprenticeship provides in-depth technical and academic training in Control & Instrumentation engineering for the nuclear sector. The programme includes:
* A portion of your time will be spent studying at Bridgwater and Taunton College
* Four days per week of practical, on-the-job training at the Oldbury nuclear site
* Mentoring from experienced Control & Instrumentation professionals
* Training in real-world nuclear environments where safety is paramount
Responsibilities
* Support the design, maintenance, calibration, and operation of control and instrumentation systems
* Learn how instrumentation, sensors, and control systems ensure nuclear plant safety and reliability
* Assist with fault diagnosis, testing, and performance monitoring of plant systems
* Collaborate with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams
* Apply control and instrumentation principles to real-world challenges in nuclear safety and restoration
Entry Requirements & What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking motivated individuals with a strong interest in engineering, automation, and safety.
* Be 18 or older by 3rd of August 2026
* Have 3 A-Levels (A–C) including Maths and a Science subject
* OR hold a relevant Level 3 qualification
We’re also looking for
* Enthusiasm for engineering, automation, and nuclear safety
* A methodical, detail-focused mindset
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Good communication and teamwork abilities
* A willingness to learn in a highly regulated technical environment
