Overview
Consultant Clinical Oncologist with interest in Thoracic and Urological Malignancies. The post holder will have subspecialty interests in thoracic and upper gastrointestinal malignancies. An interest in teaching and staff training would be an advantage. Opportunities exist for research and/or teaching, with established links with Bangor and Wrexham Universities.
Responsibilities
* To provide specialist oncological services to the population served with special reference to the common cancers and agreed appropriate oncology subspecialties and to be an active participant in each of these multidisciplinary teams.
* To work closely with clinical consultant colleagues and to provide seamless cancer care for all patients.
* To work closely with colleagues in other Divisions to assist in providing an efficient service for patients transferring between the different disciplines and during the patient journey.
* To liaise with colleagues in Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care to provide inpatient cover for oncology patients.
* To develop a site specialist and research interest. This will include developing clinical research and entering patients into appropriate national and international studies.
* To develop and participate in collaborative initiatives, having a high regard for clinical effectiveness and to the practice of evidence-based medicine.
* To participate in audit and teaching and to have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
