Environmental Manager \nLondon \n£65K - £75K \nProperty Services Health and Safety \n\nDaniel Owen are proud to be representing a social housing company based in London who are looking for a Environmental Manager to join their team on a permanent basis to work to focus on creating affordable, safe, and environmentally-conscious housing and lead our environmental initiatives across London. \n\nKey Responsibilities: \n\nDevelop, implement, and monitor environmental policies, procedures, and systems in line with legislation and industry standards. \nLead the environmental strategy for the company, including waste management, carbon reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable materials.
\nEnsure compliance with environmental regulations, environmental permits, and standards such as ISO 14001. \nConduct environmental risk assessments and audits across construction sites, ensuring any environmental impact is minimised and sustainability objectives are met.\nProvide expert advice and guidance on environmental issues to project teams, contractors, and senior management. \nWork closely with the procurement team to promote the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly materials on all projects.
\nMonitor and report on environmental performance, setting targets and driving continuous improvement in sustainability practices. \nEnsure environmental considerations are embedded in project planning, from design to completion. \nManage environmental incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are taken to prevent future occurrences.
\nConduct environmental training and awareness programs for staff, contractors, and site teams to promote a culture of sustainability. \nBuild relationships with external stakeholders, including environmental agencies, local authorities, and sustainability organisations. \nStay up-to-date with environmental legislation, best practices, and innovations in sustainable construction.
Key Knowledge: \n\nConstruction industry knowledge\n Social housing/Local authority background\n Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field. \nMinimum of 5 years of experience in an environmental management role within the construction, housing, or related industry. \nStrong knowledge of UK environmental regulations, standards, and best practices\nProven experience in managing environmental impact on construction sites and projects.
\nAbility to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, from senior management to site teams. \nExcellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.\n Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to environmental challenges. \nExperience in delivering environmental training and promoting sustainability practices
