About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Interim Estates Surveyor to join our Property & Estates team within a Yorkshire based council. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in managing and optimising the Council’s diverse property portfolio and ensuring best value, supporting service delivery, and contributing to local regeneration priorities.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a varied portfolio of operational, investment, and community properties.
* Undertake rent reviews, lease renewals, acquisitions, and disposals.
* Negotiate and prepare heads of terms, working with internal legal teams and external stakeholders.
* Provide professional property advice to senior officers, members, and partner organisations.
* Support estate rationalisation and asset optimisation projects in line with corporate property strategy.
* Conduct property inspections, valuations, and condition assessments as required.
* Ensure compliance with statutory, RICS, and local authority procedures and policies.
* Contribute to capital projects, regeneration initiatives, and service improvement programmes.
About You
* MRICS qualified (or equivalent experience).
* Proven track record in estate management within the public or private sector.
* Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work independently and deliver results to tight deadlines.
* Excellent understanding of landlord & tenant legislation, property valuation, and local authority governance.
* Experience of using property management systems and delivering efficiency through data-led decision making.
