Main duties of the job
* Work alongside the Maternity Education Team, the wider Quality and Safety Team and Maternity and Neonatal leadership teams to provide mentoring, peer support and clinical supervision to midwifery colleagues and students working in maternity services.
* Assist in the development and co-ordination of clinical skills and training programmes to meet the educational and development needs of midwives, MSWs and student midwives, in collaboration with the Maternity Education Team.
* To deliver additional training and support in the clinical areas to include POCT systems, IT training, manual handling, perineal suturing etc.

Person Specification
* Registered Midwife
* Practice Supervisor/ Ability to supervise students and supernumerary staff
* Experience of being a clinical band 6 midwife for a minimum of 3 years
* Evidence of Leadership Skills/Able to demonstrate team leadership and ward management skills
* Experience of working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
* Experience of working in all clinical areas
* Demonstrates competence in managing obstetric emergencies
* Demonstrates clinical competences in perineal suturing, cannulation, epidural care, IV drug administration etc.
* Able to make appropriate clinical decisions in view of recent research, informed choice and individual circumstances
* Knowledge of fetal physiology and application of this in fetal surveillance, including CTG interpretation
* Adaptable and responsive to changing needs and able to use own initiative
* Demonstrate ability to be IT literate, use of word, excel, PowerPoint 1and NHS IT systems.
