Job Role: Risk Manager
Location: East/Central England
Contract Length:12 months (possible extension)
Daily Rate: £500 per day via umbrella
Are you ready to shape the future of the UK's energy infrastructure? We're seeking a dynamic Risk Manager to join a high-impact team delivering major gas infrastructure projects. This is more than a job-it's a chance to lead risk strategy on nationally significant programmes that support sustainability, innovation, and energy security.
Role Purpose
As a Risk Manager, you'll be embedded within project teams, working alongside estimators, engineers, and commercial leads. You'll play a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the full project lifecycle-ensuring successful delivery of complex infrastructure initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop & Maintain Risk Profiles: Create comprehensive project risk profiles that guide decision-making.
Facilitate Workshops: Lead engaging risk workshops with both internal and external stakeholders.
Perform Quantitative Risk Assessments: Conduct QRA and scenario analyses to provide insights into potential risks.
Produce Reports: Generate and present regular risk reports to project stakeholders and governance boards.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to integrate risk management into project planning and delivery.
Ensure Compliance: Uphold industry standards and internal risk frameworks for effective risk management.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Champion ongoing enhancements in risk management practices across the organization.Essential Skills & Experience
Proven Experience: Demonstrated background in project risk management, preferably in utilities, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
Risk Management Methodologies: Strong knowledge of methodologies like Monte Carlo simulation and risk registers.
Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities to inform risk decisions.
Data Interpretation: Ability to interpret technical and cost data effectively.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Facilitation Experience: Proven track record in facilitating workshops and engaging cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in Tools: Familiarity with risk management software such as Primavera Risk Analysis and @Risk.
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or equivalent experience.
