Mountainhall Treatment Centre

We are pleased to offer this post within NHS Dumfries & Galloway Podiatry team for a trained Podiatrist to develop advanced MSK, wound prevention and injection therapy skills while supporting succession planning for a highly specialist role.

Based in Mountainhall Treatment Centre, Dumfries and working in rural areas of Dumfries and Galloway. This part-time, 25.2 hours per week post is Fixed term from 1st June 2026 ending on 21st May, 2027.

We are seeking a motivated and forward thinking Podiatrist to join our Community Outpatient Podiatry Service as a Band 6 Specialist with a focus on MSK podiatry, prevention of wound development or recurrence, and advanced clinical skill development.

You will work closely with the high specialist clinicians and wider MDT to ensure safe succession planning and continuity of specialist podiatric expertise.

You will contribute to the management of patients at risk of high risk wounds, supporting early identification and prevention, reducing recurrence, and helping avoid unnecessary hospital admissions. The role includes active involvement with Rheumatology MDT, Generalist clinicians, Tissue Viability, and wound care specialists.

The postholder will also play a key role in supporting and mentoring junior Podiatrists and HCSWs, contributing to skill development, safe delegation and improvement of care pathways.

What Were Looking For

7. HCPC registered Podiatrist (BSc or DPodM)
8. Strong Band 5/6 experience, including MSK and/or wound care exposure
9. Interest in advanced MSK podiatry and clinical skill development
10. Commitment to wound prevention and tissue health
11. Ability to supervise Band 5 colleagues and HCSWs
12. Able to travel independently across the region

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
